a large public park in south-west, opened in 1910 , proved popular; maintained team of 50 gardeners until second half of 20th century. centrepiece of park large pleasure lake, used boating , fishing. grounds contain platt hall, there several formal gardens , 3 dedicated show fields large outdoor events. in 2010, platt fields park awarded green flag award achieving national standard parks , green spaces.
