life
early career

zingarelli born in naples, studied (from age of 7) @ santa maria di loreto conservatory under fenaroli , speranza.


in 1789–1790 zingarelli went paris compose antigone. left france hurriedly @ time of revolution , returned italy. appointed maestro di cappella @ milan cathedral in 1793, , remained there until 1794, when took prestigious post of maestro di cappella @ santa casa, loreto.


rome

in 1804, zingarelli appointed choir master of sistine chapel in rome. in 1811 refused profusely, italian patriot, conduct te deum napoleon s son, newly born , known king of rome, in st. peter s, rome , taken prisoner paris. however, napoleon père fan of zingarelli s music , released him. in addition, zingarelli awarded state pension.


naples

in 1813, zingarelli moved naples, became director of conservatory. see: list of music students teacher: t z#niccolò antonio zingarelli. in 1816 replaced giovanni paisiello choir master of naples cathedral, position held until death in 1837.


he died @ torre del greco in 1837. bellini wrote sinfonia funebre funeral.
