in 1553, cristian iii of denmark , norway commissioned jordanus visit , map provinces of empire. resulting map handed on university library in copenhagen, no longer there. after commission, cartographer did not return university, devoted time further mapping work. in 1559 published map of duchies of schleswig , holstein. included calendar of 1558 1585. there copy of map in library of university of leiden. jordanus later returned birthplace, mayor in 1568 , 1582.
