leotards may not ride high on hip or cut low; in rare instances, gymnasts , teams have been penalized score deductions attire.
in 1970s leotards typically made polyester , related fabrics. since 1980s, however, have been made lycra or spandex. since 1990s, leotards have become more elaborate , have employed variety of textiles, including velvet, velour, mesh, metallic fabrics, foils , iridescent hologram fabric. can decorated rhinestones, , metallic jewels heat-set onto garments , not fall or wash off.
leotards cannot cut above hip height or cut past shoulder blades, or front. leotard see-through against rules. usage of white tights not standard.
