the cinema occupies corner parcel fronts praça da batalha, alongside rua de santo ildefonso, while form imposes on square architecturally. irregular square, l -shape defined in north church of santo ildefonso , contains various buildings of historical , architectural significance, including: são joão theatre, former cine Águia de douro, café chave d´ouro, hotel império, grande hotel da batalha , palácio da batalha, in addition statute d. pedro v.


a four-story, trapezoidal structure in art deco-inspired design, includes basement, recessed first-floor , remaining floors overhanging base. main facade oriented west south, marked curved corner , smooth stone facade, broken raised marble relief américo braga. upper floors distinguished 2 large window/glass surfaces on southeast , northeast facades, broken patterned lattice of vertical , horizontal beams. final recessed floor, marked 6 oculae oriented towards west, corresponds projection rooms of cinema.


from spiral staircase emerges onto protruding rooftop access, triangular terrace overlooking square, narrow balcony overhangs rua de são ildefonso. balcony allows access winching system advertising screens on front facade, used displaying films in exhibition. on marble surface of ground floor, large protruding window , glass.

the main stage , exhibition hall occupies entity of space, l -shaped foyer opening square , road. ceilings of exterior spaces, tribune , balconies covered stucco circular, copper lamps. on lateral doors access theatre balconies ceramic elements in forms of polychromatic wings, in bass relief birds , flowers.


the 3 foyers, on separate floors, linked main staircase, , decorated in varnished woods, glass/windows , integrated copper , metal elements. ceilings stuccoed circular patterns, different on each floor (some embedded while others protruding), culminating in final floor, mixed stars.


the floors in black, polished marmorite, partly covered in brass inlay, curvilinear line drawings , scattered stars.


the cinema includes 2 auditoriums, 1 holding 950 seats (346 main, 222 mezzanine , 382 balcony) , holding 135 visitors; 2 bars , restaurant (on terrace); , lounges.
