biography
early career

wineke graduate of verona high school in 1975. graduated b.a. in political science university of wisconsin-madison in 1980. served on verona city council 1980 1983. elected wisconsin state assembly , served 1983 1993, when elected wisconsin state senate in april 1993 special election. wineke reelected in 1994.

house of representatives election

in 1998, wineke ran open seat being vacated united states representative scott klug in u.s. house of representatives. defeated in democratic primary, receiving 27 percent of vote. tammy baldwin won both primary , general election.

wineke elected chairperson of democratic party of wisconsin in 2005. served limit of 2 terms, , succeeded mike tate, elected in june 2009. went on serve executive director of construction labor-management council of greater wisconsin inc. council created in 1990 joint effort between building trades unions , contractors promote better construction industry. wineke serves administrator of state of wisconsin division of compensation , labor relations.
