color researchers @ queen mary university of london investigated quattron technology , found although quattron have 4 physical color sub-pixels not have fourth primary in backlight drive (yellow approximately 575 nm). in other words, quattron has yellow sub-pixel let light through, manufacturer has not made provision produce yellow light needed pass through it. (the yellow subpixel merely lets through more red , green light.) on basis conclude serves no useful function.
