engine

the new diesel engine built deutz , features common rail fuel injection concept. engines available in euro iii , euro iv requirements latter achieved scr exhaust gases treatment. common rail fuel injection technology uses common rail reservoir supply fuel injector fuel operating @ injection pressure 1600 bar. system popular on diesel engines 8 litres capacity used e.g. man, daf, iveco , merceds benz.


engine design follows rest of volvo engines timing gears located @ rear, allows better air flow around engine area. engine comes integrated engine brake available in 2 versions, either stand alone butterfly type exhaust brake or jak integrated compression brake jacobs vehicle system. this, so-called bleeder brake, simplified version of traditional jake compression brake. total braking output 130 kw (177 ps) @ 2800 rpm exhaust unit , 188 kw (256 ps) @ 2800 rpm compression brake.


transmission

the vehicle available both manual , automatic transmissions. manual gearboxes made zf[1] of ecomid range , automatic transmissions allison[2] there 2 manual gearboxes cable linkage system , servo assist reduce gear changing effort. 6 speed overdrive has direct shift pattern , available 240 hp (179 kw) , 260 hp (194 kw) engines. 9 speed overdrive range change called double h pattern available tractor units , higher gcm vehicles.


the automatics available in 2 models 6-speed top 2 overdrive electronically controlled allison md3060 , al306 , both have hydraulic retarder option maximum brake torque of 1,700 n·m (1,253.9 lb·ft).


brakes , air system

the brake system fe similar rest of fm/fh family of trucks ebs new integrated air dryer system called apm or air production management introduced. apm combines functions of air dryer, regulator, four-way protection valve, pressure limiting , safety valves, pressure sensors , blocking valve 1 unit , electronically controlled. main advantages of system in reduced numbers of separate components reduces risk of air leakage , electrical connectors failures.


chassis

the fe line available in 2 frame heights general transport distribution duty or 1 light construction transport duty. suspension available either on full air or combination of front parabolic leaf spring , rear air bags or rear s parabolic springs. wide selection of rear axle ratios in both single , hub reduction on offer differential locks standard in 4x2,6x2 , 6x4 configuration.
