the 6th airborne division called intervene in german offensive through ardennes on 20 december 1944. on 29th of month, attacked tip of german thrust , 3rd parachute brigade given responsibility rochefort sector, took after meeting stiff resistance. after several months of heavy patrolling, in belgium and, in february, netherlands, division withdrawn england.
