verbund has business relations in more 20 countries, 13 offices and/or equity interests throughout europe , 1 in turkey. in fiscal 2008, verbund recorded best result of history far: around 2,500 employees, company achieved turnover of more 3.7 billion euro, ebit of more 1.1 billion euro , group result of under 686 million euro.

trading

within verbund group, electricity trading constitutes interface between generation, sales , wholesale market. more half of power sales executed abroad, outside austria. verbund active in more 20 countries, largest sales markets being germany, france , italy. trade conducted on major european stock exchanges. moreover, utilities , industrial large customers supplied energy; green energy , co2 certificates traded.

effective july 2005, verbund has been active in area of direct power sales on deregulated austrian market. in addition household , commercial customers, verbund has been supplying austrian industry since beginning of 2006 energy (market share of 25%). end of 2009, verbund had been supplying 220,000 end customers electricity, makes verbund fifth largest end customer provider in austria.

participating/equity interests

verbund actively involved in major electricity markets of europe , turkey, in connection local partners. in italy, verbund has 44.8 percent share in power company sorgenia, founded joint venture cir group in 1999 under name of energia. in france, verbund holds 44.8 percent share in energy provider poweo, founded in 2004. in turkey, verbund has had 50 percent share in energy provider enerjisa since 2007, established in 1996 sabanci holding, holds remaining 50 percent. since 2008, of verbund s foreign equity interests , projects bundled in verbund-international gmbh. verbund s domestic interests, in kelag, example, administered group holding company.

verbund ag has majority share in verbund hydro power ag (80,34%), in verbund thermal power gmbh & co kg (55,66%). various subsidiaries wholly owned; includes austrian power grid ag, verbund trading ag, verbund sales gmbh, verbund international gmbh, verbund management service gmbh, verbund telekom gmbh , verbund renewable power gmbh.

other information

since 2004, verbund has had own art collection, sammlung verbund , consisting of contemporary international artworks 1970 until today. in 2009, verbund, caritas austria, launched electric assistance fund, fed 1 euro per private customer per year. fund intended support people below-average incomes way of interim financial assistance, energy consultations. verbund subsidiary verbund-tourismus gmbh group s advertising agency , promoting power plants adjacent areas (kaprun, maltatal, zillertal) attractive destinations excursions.
