it used in biology , medicine histological stain. cresyl violet effective , reliable stain used light microscopy sections. initially, tissue sections defatted passing through graded dilutions of ethanol. then, rehydrated passing through decreasing concentrations of ethanol. lastly, water. ethanol solutions act differentiate stain, causing myelin , other components lose color whereas perikarya retain color. used find helicobacter pylori.
