back in québec, career began when received commission decorate church of holy savior in 1887. after brief return paris retrieve wife , daughter, there several more commissions of religious nature. in 1903, travelled europe family, visiting wife s parents in germany, , italy, honed skills studying francesco gai. returned canada in 1904, alone. (details period in life rather sketchy.) following year, rejoined family in brussels , lived in saint-malo, france. in 1907, wife died , brought daughter canada.
