on january 12, 2015, jr motorsports announced haas racing development driver cole custer drive truck team in 10 races in 2015, marking team s first foray camping world truck series. trucks acquired former hendrick development partner turner scott motorsports, after team ceased operations. team operates out of satellite facility in mooresville, north carolina. truck s number (no. 00) , sponsor (haas automation) both came team haas racing.


under nascar s age requirement rules truck series, 17-year-old custer ran 10 races, @ tracks under 1.1 miles (1,800 m) in length (and gateway motorsports park), team planning full-time run in 2016 championship. kasey kahne, kevin harvick, kyle larson, alex bowman, , jeb burton ran races in no. 00 truck. no. 00 ran 15 races, winning twice: kahne @ charlotte in may, , custer @ gateway in june. in 2016, custer won pole @ canadian tire motorsports park, , looked car beat. after leading laps, seemed though custer score first win of season , spot in inaugural chase, until john hunter nemechek put custer grass , fence win race. after race, custer tackled nemechek ground , separated nascar officials. no fines or penalties handed out either driver.


in january, 2017, jrm announced end of participation in truck racing - focus on xfinity series entries.


truck no. 49 history

in 2016, team fielded second truck numbered 49 nick drake, cole custer haas racing development driver, beginning @ dover. entry fielded in collaboration premium motorsports, fellow truck series team runs no. 49. drake s paint scheme similar cole custer s, same haas automation sponsorship. in drake s first career start @ dover, finished solid 16th. drake made second start @ iowa speedway. truck did not make other starts jr motorsports equipment. no. 00, no. 49 shut down due sponsor haas automation leaving team.
