on 14 december 2011, confirmed ricciardo drive scuderia toro rosso 2012 season, alongside frenchman jean-Éric vergne.


at 2012 australian grand prix on 18 march 2012, ricciardo managed overtake teammate vergne late on last lap come home in ninth place, securing first 2 world championship points.


in wet conditions in malaysia finished 12th, after having been first switch slick tyres. in bahrain qualified sixth, dropped during race , finished 15th. in monaco suffered retirement of season, after having started 15th position.


2013

on 31 october 2012, toro rosso announced re-signing of ricciardo 2013 season.


ricciardo out-scored teammate jean-Éric vergne 7 points , out-qualified him in on 3/4 of season. impressive qualifying efforts of 30–7 against vergne on 2 years promote him toro rosso senior team, red bull, replacing fellow countryman mark webber. ricciardo finished 13th in championship 20 points.
