the first filipino documented in washington dates 1888. in 1910, population of filipinos in washington outnumbered population of filipinos in california twelve. in 1920, there thousand (958) filipinos in washington. pre-world war ii, washington had second largest population of filipino americans in mainland united states, there being 3,480 in 1930; population reduced 2,200 1940. significant population of these filipinos migratory workers, working in canneries in puget sound, , harvesting crops in yakima valley.
