State Route 279 Former state routes in Arizona



state route 279 state route ran present day state route 89a in cottonwood downtown camp verde. route first appeared in state map in 1955 , decertified when state route 260 extended west on december 15, 1989. entire route replaced state route 260 when 260 designation extended payson across state route 87 , general crook trail. although of sr 279 replaced sr 260, there 2 separate parts new highway not run on top of original. first stretch in cottonwood on camino real heading south sr 89a, road continues sr 260 according maps; however, pavement ends @ odgen ranch road. second stretch on western side of camp verde. old loop road labeled old highway 279 runs sr 260 @ picnic tables west, returning sr 260 before reaching i-17. segment not paved along entire length.
