sam s mailbag (by sam newman)—sam reads , answers letters show s fans, though vast majority of letters have little nothing football.
street talk (by sam newman)—a satirical take on vox pop interviewing , making fun of various characters on streets of cities around australia. billy brownless, shane crawford or brendan fevola fill in host of segment when sam unable fulfill position.
hughesy s spray (by dave hughes)—involves hughes attending selected team s training , stirring them humorous asides club , various players. similar btg super spray (also done hughes on before game)
the footy show stakes (by cartoonist andrew fyfe)—a satirical animation sending weekly events in football in form of horse race. (formerly known fyfe s footy flicks)

angry al—originally gary coleman medal, renamed gary coleman memorial medal , charlie sheen medal, , resurrected in homage volatile hawthorn coach alastair clarkson. faux medal awarded afl personality lost temper in major way in previous week. footage of other sport flare ups shown nominations .
big bill house—a 1 off segment in 2013, 2014 , 2015. introduced in 2013 when sam, shane , garry got certainty tips incorrect, in same round. big bill house features challenges set big bill (billy brownless) , humorous , stupid. returned on 28 august 2014 , aired parts on next 3 weeks result of james getting certainty incorrect forcing sam, garry , shane join him.
the wheel (by billy brownless)—billy goes around local footy clubs have competition won come on wheel. segment has been aired twice in 2014.

hatchet jobs—featured during 2006 towards end of show. footage coach interviews chopped , edited resulting in facetious one-liners.
house of bulger—5-minute parody of daytime soap operas featuring shane crawford hank bulger, , other presenters , afl stars recurring characters.
bulger, md—the sequel house of bulger, ending hank being shot dead dr. pink (nathan brown) on grand final show.
shane s mailbag (by shane crawford)—a simple mock of sam s mailbag occurred in 2009. shane placed sign in front of himself segment s name, whilst wearing wide-brimmed hat & blowing whistle.
pillow talk (by james brayshaw/garry lyon)—wives or girlfriends of afl footballers interviewed.
under pump—a member of panel asked poignant questions other panelists , presenters, bike pump lowered above them comedic effect.
that s m talkin (by shane crawford/chris sheedy)—recurring segment in 2009. shane crawford attempted beat various guinness world records. records have been broken include kissing 96 people in 60 seconds , having 153 spiders crawl on body 30 seconds.
pardon puzzle (by james brayshaw/garry lyon)—recurring segment in 2011. still occasional segment. sequence of images displayed sam , panel must piece answer. (but not always) names of afl players , coaches, , images deliberately amusing.

grand final spectacular

commencing in 1996, grand final edition of show broadcast live rod laver arena annually on thursday night before afl grand final in front of crowd of around 12,000. show includes afl players revue in players dress , dance themes. has included performances , cameos players such shane crawford, brodie holland, david rodan, brendan fevola, campbell brown (footballer), aaron davey , footy show presenters, including eddie mcguire first time in 2017.
