the chicago blackhawks lured bollig out of university following sophomore season , signed him professional contract in 2010. blackhawks assigned him american hockey league (ahl) affiliate, rockford icehogs complete 2009–10 season; bollig made professional debut on april 6, 2010, , scored first professional goal 4 nights later against san antonio rampage. played entire 2010–11 ahl season icehogs, , remained in rockford majority of following campaign.


chicago recalled bollig late in 2011–12 nhl season serve replacement enforcer john scott, traded new york rangers. bollig made nhl debut on february 29, 2012, against toronto maple leafs; recorded first fight, against luke schenn. appeared in 18 regular season games blackhawks. held pointless, recorded 58 pim. in 2012 stanley cup playoffs, bollig appeared in 4 games in team s first round match-up against phoenix coyotes , scored first nhl goal on april 14, game-tying marker against goaltender mike smith in second game of series.
